Conquer is a daily geography game at conquer.abdullahhasani.com. This policy explains exactly what the game collects, why it collects it, who else can see it, and how to get rid of it. It is written to describe what the software actually does rather than to cover every hypothetical.

The short version. You can play the entire game without an account, and in that case nothing about your play leaves your device. If you switch on daily reminders, Conquer keeps the bare minimum needed to send them: a delivery address and encryption keys from your browser, your time zone, and the date you last played. If you create an account, Conquer stores your email address, a username you choose, your scores and a copy of your progress, so that leaderboards and cross-device sync can work. There is no advertising, no analytics product, and no third-party tracking of any kind. Conquer never asks for or reads your device's location, even though it is a geography game.

1. Playing without an account

Signing in is optional. Without an account, your streak, conquered locations, achievements, custom drills and settings are stored only in your own browser, using local storage on your device. This information is not transmitted to any server, and nobody else — including us — can see it. The one exception is optional daily reminders, described in section 3.

Because it lives in your browser, clearing site data or using a different browser or device means starting over. You can erase it yourself at any time from Settings, using "Reset all progress", which deletes it immediately and permanently.

2. What an account stores

An account exists so that leaderboards, private groups, Versus matches and cross-device sync can work. It holds:

DataWhy
Email addressIdentifies your account and is how sign-in links are delivered.
UsernameShown to other players on leaderboards and in groups. You choose it, and it need not be your real name.
Country (optional)Only used to place you on a country leaderboard. You can leave it unset.
Scores and roundsYour total for each game, and per round the location, score and distance in kilometers. This is what leaderboards rank and what your statistics are computed from.
Versus results and ratingHead-to-head match outcomes and your Elo rating.
Group membershipWhich private groups you belong to, and their names and join codes.
Subscription statusWhether a Conquer+ subscription is active and when the current period ends.
Saved progressA copy of the progress kept on your device — streak, empire, achievements, custom drills, settings and per-place results — so it follows you to every device you sign in on.

Scores are submitted as the coordinates you tapped on the globe, which the server uses to recompute your score rather than trusting the number your device reports. Those coordinates are guesses about where a city or landmark is. They say nothing about where you are.

Signing in with Google

If you choose "Continue with Google", Google tells Conquer your email address and basic profile information for the account you pick. Conquer uses the email address to identify your account and nothing else. Conquer does not receive your Google password, and does not request access to Gmail, Drive, Contacts or any other Google service. You can revoke this at any time from your Google account permissions page.

3. Daily reminders (optional)

Reminders are off unless you switch them on in Settings, and your browser asks for your permission first. When on, Conquer sends at most two notifications a day, one in the morning and one in the evening, and only while you haven't played that day's Daily. They are never used for anything else. Reminders work with or without an account and are not linked to one. To send them, Conquer stores:

DataWhy
Push addressA web address your browser's push service creates for this device, so a reminder can reach it. It contains no name, email or phone number.
Encryption keysTwo public keys your browser creates along with the push address. Conquer uses them to encrypt each reminder's text so that only your device can read it, not the push service that carries it.
Time zoneFor example America/Chicago, as reported by your device. Used only to send the reminders in your morning and evening.
Dates and delivery statusThe last day you finished the Daily on that device and the last day each reminder was sent, so you're never reminded about a Daily you've done or reminded twice, plus a count of failed deliveries so dead addresses get cleaned up.

A reminder carries only its own wording (for example "Today's Conquest is ready"), encrypted for your device. Switching reminders off in Settings deletes this record. If you remove notification permission or uninstall, the push service reports the address as gone and the record is deleted at the next send.

4. What Conquer does not collect

5. Who processes data on our behalf

Conquer relies on a small number of service providers. Each one only receives what it needs to do its job.

6. Other players

Leaderboards are public within the game. If you sign in and submit a score, other players can see your username, your country if you set one, and your score. Your email address is never shown to other players. In a private group, members see the same information for everyone in that group. In Versus, the other players see your pin and score for a round only once that round has closed. Anyone you or another player sends a match's watch link to can follow that match live, seeing usernames, pins and scores.

7. How long data is kept

Reminder data is kept while reminders are on, as described in section 3. Account data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account and the associated profile, scores, group memberships and Versus results are deleted with it. Local, on-device progress is kept until you clear it. Stripe retains payment records for as long as its own legal and accounting obligations require, independently of Conquer.

8. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA, including rights of access, correction, deletion, portability and objection. Conquer does not sell personal information as those laws define it. Requests can be made using the contact address below.

9. Security

Traffic is served over HTTPS. Database access is governed by row-level security rules, so a signed-in player can read their own records and the public leaderboard, and nothing else. Scores are recalculated server-side from raw guesses rather than trusted from the client. No system is perfectly secure, and no promise of absolute security is made here.

10. Children

Conquer is not directed at children under 13, and accounts are not knowingly created for them. A parent or guardian who believes a child has created an account can write to the address below and it will be removed. Note that the game is fully playable with no account at all, which, with reminders left off, involves no data collection whatsoever.

11. International transfers

The service providers above operate infrastructure in the United States and other countries, so your data may be processed outside the country you live in.

12. Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be signaled in the app rather than made quietly.
